The Music Institute of Chicago Academy program is designed for advanced students with the potential to pursue a career in music. It provides young musicians with a complete musical education at the highest levels of instruction. The program meets on Saturdays for thirty weeks from September to May. All students must be enrolled for private instruction at the Music Institute of Chicago. Students living within a 60-mile radius of the Music Institute of Chicago should expect to take their private lessons on a day other that Saturday. Acceptance to the program is based on performance level. All students in the program must participate fully in all program components.
Participation in Academy performances and attendance at selected concerts is required. Unexcused absences will result in revoking of Academy scholarship and may be grounds for program dismissal. Excused absences include illness or family emergency, competitions, school musical activities, and significant performance opportunities (not gigs).
Entrance is by selective audition.
