We are delighted to share our diverse and exciting 2007-2008 Cultural Events calendar with you.  Since 2003, thousands of music lovers have discovered the acoustical perfection and architectural beauty of Nichols Concert Hall in downtown Evanston.  As a national leader in music education, the concerts, lectures, and special events offered by the Music Institute of Chicago (MIC) not only promise to entertain but also to inform with carefully crafted programs, engaging commentary, and interaction with performing artists.

Our Guest Artist Series pays homage to the great music conservatories of America with performances by their faculty, alumni and resident ensembles, including several esteemed graduates of MIC.  The popular Faculty & Friends Series pairs our outstanding faculty performers with prominent musicians of local and national renown.  All visiting artists offer open master classes featuring MIC’s talented students.  The acclaimed January Series returns with a fascinating exploration of the development of flight and music inspired by man’s quest to defy gravity.  Our second season of free children’s concerts, complete with family open houses and engaging music, promises to delight kids of all ages.

A number of special events round out the calendar, highlighted by the rousing Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration in January and two very different concerts rededicating the Music Institute’s fully restored 1914 E. M. Skinner Organ.  In addition, over a hundred free student performances are offered throughout the year.  Consult our new web site for complete information.  I invite you to enjoy stimulating and fresh programming by world class performers and speakers in an intimate and inspiring setting.
