Youth Musicianship — fall Semester

MIC’s Musicianship Program offers the key to a complete and well-rounded musical education. By increasing the understanding of the language of music and studying music literature and history, students achieve greater competency and enjoyment at their instruments. These weekly group classes include sight-singing, rhythmic reading, dictation, music theory, music history, and keyboard skills. All students registered for private lessons at MIC receive free musicianship classes as an added value to their private lesson experience ($35 annual materials fee applies). Enrollment in musicianship classes is on a first-come, first-served basis, and registration is required. Due to the sequential, year-long curriculum, all participants must register for and begin attending classes by November 15. Consistent attendance is required.

NEW!  Jazz Musicianship and Improvisation
Come explore the world of jazz and jazz improvisation!  This class will increase your knowledge of jazz theory and jazz history and enhance your creativity through "playing by ear" on your instrument.  Participants will also learn to interpret great jazz recordings through listening and imitation.  All instruments are welcome.  This class is FREE for student enrolled in private lessons or combos at MIC ($35 materials fee applies).  Prerequisites:  two years of private instrumental study and Musicianship Level 1 or equivalent.
See the group class listings for times and locations.
