Youth Programs

Musical Theater — fall Semester

Developing New Talent, Creating New Musicals, Making Classic Musicals New!

MIC's Musical Theater revolutionizes Musical Theater training by developing musical from the page to the stage for all levels of ability, giving student a world of new opportunities including:

Creating new shows with students as young as kindergarten-we engage a wider breadth of student interests:  writing, designing, composing, acting, singing, and dancing.

Original Musicals written specifically to the unique talents of the performers-giving everyone a chance to shine.

Customized material that is always age appropriate, challenging, and fun!

Ensemble-driven pieces with more casting opportunities and sharing of "the spotlight"

Program directors seasoned in both writing for professional actors and designing programs for youth

Group instruction in music, drama, and dance at all levels of experience, each led by degreed professionals with real-world experience.

A program-wide curriculum based on the Illinois State Standards in the Fine and Applied Arts.

Musical Theater programs are offered at MIC's Evanston West and Highland Park campuses.  Musical Theater summer camps are available at the Evanston West, Highland Park, and Lake Forest campuses.  Our professional staff fosters the seamless integration of voice, movement, and drama, with an emphasis on the healthy and appropriate application of each for students of all ages and levels of development.

Musical Theater Classes
  • Adult Musical Theater Workshop (ages 18 and up)

    $480.00 per 12 week semester | 180 minute class

  • Broadway Bound (grades 4-7) Disney's My Son, Pinocchio: Starts September 11

    Disney's My Son Pinocchio. While working on performance fundamentals and audition techniques, stage classic Broadway and Disney musicals in productions that emphasize ensemble work, creative staging, and physical storytelling. Performances:December 2-4, 2010.

    $495.00 per 15 week semester | 180 minute class

  • The Company Act Two Evanston grades 8-12; by audition), Lightning Bolt!, Lightning Bolt!, Starts September 11

    The Company offers the opportunity for teens to dig deeper into performance technique and work on the stage skills young actors need in high school and college, all in a fun, friendly atmosphere. Performances: December 16-18.
